Easyflex Rubber expansion joints offer several key advantages
  • The bellows are moulded under high pressure and impregnated with multiply nylon tire cord and spring-steel wire reinforcement. This makes them suitable for both positive pressure and vacuum applications
  • Long radius arch bellow design provides excellent axial, transverse and angular deflection capability.
  • Spherical shape of bellow ensures smooth flow of fluid, resulting in negligible pressure drop across the joint.
  • Substantial steel-reinforced moulded beads at each end of bellow eliminate the need for gaskets
  • Captive floating flanges facilitate alignment with pipe during installation. These are grooved in order to accommodate the bellow end-beads
  • The floating flanges are epoxy powder coated for corrosion resistance
  • Each unit is individually tested at 150% of rated maximum working pressure before leaving works

Easyflex Wide Arch rubber expansion joints represent our most cost-effective full pressure single wide arch design. Additionally, they are designed to absorb large all-directional movements, reduce noise and vibration, have a cycle life in the tens of millions, compensate for misalignments, provide access to piping and equipment and relieve pipe and anchor stresses. Its spool type body is constructed with full rubber flanges, a high-grade leak-proof tube, multiple layers of high-strength tire cord, high tensile steel reinforcement, a seamless cover and hot dip galvanized steel retaining rings. This construction, as a standalone expansion joint, represents the most cost-effective arrangement when used in rigid piping systems with main anchors (MA) and numerous guides at specific spacing. Control units can be used as limit rods for secondary restraint or as tie rods when the support structure or adjacent equipment have load limitations.

Easyflex Universal Metal Expansion Joints are constructed with two metal expansion bellows of an equal length separated by a center pipe. This expansion joint design will accept large amounts of lateral offset in multiple planes. The amount of deflection is based on the amount of angulation each bellows can take and the length of the center spool. Tie rods are required where it is necessary to absorb full pressure thrust and other externally applied loads. Easyflex Universal Expansion Joints are normally designed to absorb any combination of axial and lateral movement and angular rotation in multi-plane piping arrangements. They are extremely well suited to the absorption of large amounts of lateral displacement. The magnitude of the lateral displacement can be varied considerably because any increase in the length of the center pipe spool produces a corresponding increase in allowable lateral deflection. In installations involving large amounts of thermal change, where there is a change in elevation of the piping or where offsets exist, it is frequently possible to install Universal bellows expansion joints in the offset or drop leg, which will absorb considerably more movement laterally than can be absorbed in compression by standard units.

The Tied Type Easyflex Universal Expansion Joints are usually constructed with either two sets of short tie rods, one set over each bellows, or with overall tie rods. A unit with the two sets of short rods is designed primarily to limit movement and stabilize the connecting pipe section. A unit with overall tie rods is designed to absorb full pressure thrust, to stabilize the connecting pipe section, and to absorb all external loads which are present, such as wind loads and weight of center pipe nipple where unit is exceptionally long.

Easyflex Concentric and Eccentric Reducers and Reducing Expansion Joints are designed to allows simple connection of different sized pipes. Reducing Expansion Joints also provide all the benefits of a standard Easyflex Expansion Joint. Reducers can be used as pipe reducers or increasers, expansion joints, flexible connectors, and vibration eliminators.

Easyflex Reducers were designed to replace metal reducers in the pipeline. Standard reducers have a smooth-walled reduction from flange to flange. Reducing Expansion Joints are available in single, double, and triple arches, in either open or filled models. The multiple arches are used in applications where expansion or contraction will occur. The advantage of an all-rubber reducer over a metal reducer is the flexibility and durability of the elastomer. Filled reducers are usually used on slurry and abrasive applications to prevent the collection of material, which can settle in the arches. Easyflex Reducers eliminate noise and isolate vibration in the pipeline, reduce stress, eliminate electrolysis, and protect against start-up surges. Concentric reducers save installation space and reduce costs.

Easyflex manufactures concentric reducers to meet your exact piping needs. The flanges are designed to meet your required specifications. Easyflex Reducers are available in a variety of elastomers to satisfy the chemical compatibility and temperature of the process fluid. Piping systems must be anchored when using concentric reducers. Standard control rods cannot be used to prevent over extension or elongation.

Expansion bellows can be designed with reinforcing or equalizing rings which are located around the outside of the convolutions, preventing bellows being forced out from high pressure. The principal purpose of these devices is to reinforce the bellows under internal high pressure, so that bellows does not squirm and equalize movement among all the convolutions. The disadvantage of these bellows is the increased stiffness and limited movement of the bellows.

The main mission of the Easyflex reinforced metal expansion joint for high pressure (High Pressure Metal Expansion Joint) is to absorb axial expansion movements both thermal and mechanical origin under high pressure conditions. The High-Pressure Metal Expansion Joint is composed of a single bellow of several waves in the form of “U”. These waves are made by one or more metal sheets longitudinally welded and shaped hydraulically or mechanically. Because of its configuration, the designer must bear in mind that this type of metal expansion joint transmit pressure stresses to the fixed points and guides of the piping system.

Easyflex Tied Pump Connectors are designed to compensate for multi-plane axial, lateral and angular movement in non-torsional applications. They are intended for use in both suction and pressure lines to absorb mechanical vibrations caused by pumps, compressors and other pipeline equipment. Easyflex Tied Pump Connectors aid in compensating for minor piping misalignment and helping to minimize the stress on your system. Heavy-duty restraining rods and spacers assure protection against bellows distortion in the event anchors are not properly secured and absorb mechanical vibration without hampering axial, lateral or angular movement of the pump connector.

Unlike rubber and elastomeric connectors, Easyflex Tied Pump Connectors are not subject to premature deterioration resulting from elevated temperature conditions or UV exposure. Thus, they offer a longer cycle life in a wide variety of temperature applications ranging from sub-zero to super-heated steam. In the latter case, it may be necessary to include the optional internal liner to prevent excessive flow velocity from damaging the assembly.

Custom-built assemblies are available to meet conditions beyond these specifications. Lengths other than standard are available upon request.
